THE BRIEF

A social media ad that goes against the norm

First Point Plumbing approached us on Instagram in February 2024 as they were looking to get an advert produced for their social media pages that could run all year round. One of the most important elements of this brief was that they didn't want the ad to be a simple, generic video but rather something that catches people's eye straight away and keeps them engaged throughout. As soon as we got the brief for this one, we knew it was going to be fun to produce!

STAGE ONE

Pre-Production

After the initial enquiry from Lewis, the owner of First Point Plumbing, we jumped on a call with him to discuss the project further. The idea was to have a comedic, engaging ad that still conveyed that they are a professional company who can be trusted should you ever need their services. After getting a better understanding of their vision and what they wanted to achieve, we got to work on a draft script and storyboard for Lewis to take a look at on our next call. We thought long and hard about different concepts and ideas whilst still keeping within the budget. As soon as we had an idea of what we would go for, we set up another call with Lewis and his team. On this call, we presented our ideas and draft script for their approval, and they loved it! It was now time to get a shooting day booked in and get to work!

STAGE TWO

Production

On the shooting day, the team arrived on location at 10am to get things prepped to start shooting at 10:30. This also gave Lewis some time to familiarise himself with the script and his directions for the first scene. Once we were all set up and Lewis was ready, we started filming. As you will see in the final video, the ad had a couple of scenes which involved Lewis getting a little bit wet! This meant quite a few outfit changes for him as we wanted a few different takes of each one to ensure we had it right. The biggest challenge we faced on this shoot was... yep, you guessed it, the weather... the joys of living in the UK! We had planned a few more outdoor scenes that just weren't possible due to torrential rain. We did manage to think on our feet and adapt to the situation by finding ways of doing the shots inside which ended up working really nicely in the video.

STAGE THREE

Post-Production

We got to work editing this as soon as we could (we know none of you want to be waiting weeks to see your final video). To start with, went through all of the takes we shot for each scene and picked out the best ones... it was quite amusing reliving Lewis getting drenched over and over again! Once we were happy with all of the takes, we put these together in Adobe Premiere Pro, added music, a colour grade, subtitles and VOILA! We sent it off for approval, made a few amendments that they'd requested, and they had it uploaded to their socials in less than a week from the filming date! It is also the most viewed reel on their Instagram page so far! Overall a great project to work on with another satisfied client at the end!

TESTIMONIALS

What our clients say:

This was the first time I had worked with Inspire Films but won't be the last. Having seen their portfolio, I knew that they would be able to create a high quality promo video. They listened carefully to the brief & were committed to producing a video which reflected this. From the start of the project until the end, Jake completed the task with absolute enthusiasm and pride. I will be booking Inspire Films on an annual basis & recommend them without reservation.
